We have begun producing sugar pine seedlings from 30 proven white pine blister rust resistant seed trees. All of the trees are located in the Lake Tahoe Basin, although we can probably get seed from proven trees from other areas. We have 1000 seedlings for immediate sale. We are also taking pre-orders for 2009. We have visited all of our seed trees and we have a pretty good cone crop going. All of our seed trees were proven resistant by the U.S. Forest Service's Sugar Pine Blister Rust Program in Camino California. Fair warning, resistance is caused by a single dominant gene. That means I know 50% or slightly more of the seedlings are resistant. I just dont know which 50%. So order twice as much as you think you need if there is rust in your area.
