Alert Bay Lodge is a 2900 sq. ft. west coast retreat in the Northern Gulf Islands. The former United Church for Cormorant Island, the lodge has 14 foot cedar beamed ceilings, stunning views of Johnstone Strait and the Vancouver Island Mountain Range.

Sitting on one acre, the lodge faces south, is of cedar panabode log construction and is one level - ranch style. Of the six rooms, five are revenue and one is occupied by the manager. All rooms have a private bathroom, except for Rooms 1 and 2 that share a bathroom. An oil furnace provides central heating and electric heat is in all rooms. A large woodstove heats the common room, generally with wood scavenged from the beach.
The Lodge was built in the 60's and the present owners have owned it since 2001. BC Accommodation approved by Tourism BC. Great fishing for salmon and halibut. The marina is two kilometers down the road. There are six daily sailings from Port McNeill, which is a six hour drive north of Victoria. Alert Bay (pop. 1300) is an off-the-beaten path tourism destination becoming increasing known for grizzly bear tours, whale watching, kayaking and First Nation culture. Website
