I am trying to put together a healthy, quality, small herd of sheep that I can breed for meat, keeping our land cleared, and to test my border collie puppies' for herding instincts and drive. Must be Katahdin, Dorper or St. Croix, purebred or crosses. No wool sheep, no horned sheep, and please no Barb black bellies. Looking for calm, level headed hair sheep. Scrapie tagged preferred.I'm open to adults or lambs. Looking for 4-5 ewes of good breeding quality and one non related ram lamb with friendly temperament. I make pets out of my rams and have never had any aggression problems during breeding season.I live in Central Florida just west of DeLand. I raise purebred working border collies, have 8 acres, and would like to get some sheep again. I haven't had any for a while. I gave my sheep up for horses, and I miss them. Any colors except total black are fine. They must be able to take the sun and the heat (in moderation) when working with the puppies. White, cream, or white with any color spots preferred. They would have plenty of water, lots of breaks and rest time, but I think working with anything totally black in this state is cruel. My BCs jump into the water to cool off, but the sheep don't. So, no dark colors please.Make me a package deal, or trade for a border collie??? I've got some very nice puppies currently, and also a very nice ABCA registered young working male. He's a proven stud and has a very good temperament.If there's anyone out there as interested as I am, please contact me. I'd love to discuss options or pricing with you.
